About the Summit

The Youth Leadership Summit is an annual event designed to engage future leaders and expose them to important global challenges. Through training seminars, cultural events, and a diplomacy simulation, students develop leadership and professional development skills, inspiring a new generation of citizen diplomats who promote peace, mutual respect, and prosperity.  


Program Highlights

  • Training Seminars: Students participate in workshops focusing on professional development skills and diplomacy, preparing them for an immersive diplomatic simulation.  


  • Cultural Events: Attendees enjoy tours of Washington, D.C. landmarks and immerse themselves in cultural experiences from across the globe.  


  • Diplomacy Simulation: The National Museum of American Diplomacy hosts a simulation where students engage in skill-building role-playing scenarios based on real-world situations. Developed by diplomats and historians, this activity allows students to practice collaborating with individuals who have differing values, interests, and perspectives to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.  


Eligibility

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 18 at the time of the Youth Leadership Summit.  


  • Participants must be actively associated with a sister city organization.  


  • 50 students will be selected to participate in the Youth Leadership Summit.
